Eros and Psyche is a narrative poem with strong romantic and tragic themes: first published in by Robert Bridges. Bridges was licensed as a physician in England until when he was forced to retire due to a lung disease. He would then devote the rest of his life to literary research and writing and would be appointed as Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom in As Psyche - the youngest daughter of a petty Cretan king - grows into the full flower of womanhood, she becomes worshiped by the common people as the living apotheosis of Aphrodite.

Mythology is often the spotlight of the focus of many poems, and it is approached differently by each author. However, they differ strongly in the way the information is elicited, the speaker and their basic writing styles. Common to both works is the tone, leading the reader to have sympathy for the god who suffers disconsolately.





I am still amazed that the teacher was unfazed by the thing (maybe it happened to her all the time), and that none of the other kids seemed too shocked by it either. A couple of years later, 6 th grade I think, I began to notice other teachers who always wore dresses, complete with high heels and pantyhose. Of course, that was just the way it was back then, but it still was pretty exciting to see, especially when some of the teachers seemed to tease a little by frequently running their hands over their nylons to feel the silky fabric on their legs. I always thought that was sexy. I wondered how any of the boys learned anything (academically) during those classes.
